Frequently Asked Questions
Colorado's parent CNA program allows a parent or family member to become a paid caretaker for their children pending eligibility determination.
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists patients in everyday activities (ADLs) and provides primary care, including assisted transfer, bathing, and personal hygiene. The Parent CNA home care program is overseen by a registered nurse.
- Each child must first be eligible for the Health First Colorado. This means they must be qualified for Colorado Medicaid. To learn more and verify your eligibility you can click here, or call the contact center at Colorado Peak, Monday ‐ Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at 1‐800‐221‐3943
- A nurse will come out to your home to complete a Pediatric Assessment Tool with your loved one if they are under the age of 21. This assessment will determine if your child will qualify for the Parent CNA program.

- We will help balance the medical attention and personal care role so you know how to easily transition from parent to CNA and back to the primary parent role.
