How Ainsley’s Angels Colorado Springs Empowers Its Members

Within this inspiring network, Angel Teams match Athlete Riders, who have special needs, with Athlete Runners, who provide the strength to push adaptive racing chairs during events. The Colorado Springs chapter supplies the necessary equipment and organizes each race, which lets participants focus on enjoyment and achievement.

From Denver to Washington, D.C., these teams showcase resilience and teamwork. On race day, excitement fills the air as families, volunteers, and friends gather to cheer and support every participant. The chapter’s motto, “act local, think global,” captures its mission perfectly. Local efforts in Colorado Springs help inspire broader awareness nationwide, showing what true inclusion looks like in practice.

The Origin of Ainsley’s Angels

Ainsley, daughter of Kim and Lori Rossiter, was born in 2003. She was later diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), a rare inherited neurological disorder. Due to the progressive nature of the disorder, death usually occurs between 5 and 10 years of age.

In 2008, her radiant smile during her first jog inspired a movement that would touch thousands. Running became a way to celebrate her life, and over the years she completed more than 100 races, including 20 half-marathons and four Marine Corps Marathons.

Her story continues to motivate Angel Riders and Runners across the country, proving that endurance is as much about spirit as it is about strength.

How Can You Join the Ainsley’s Angels Family?

Becoming part of the Ainsley’s Angels Family is simple and rewarding. You can participate as an Angel Rider, Angel Runner, or Guardian Angel.

  • Angel Runner: A runner who shares their strength to help an Angel Rider reach the finish line.
